HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!

We went green this Easter. We recycled old milk jugs to use as easter baskets to gather our easter eggs.

We had fun at the 3rd annual cul-de-sac easter egg hunt. The children went from house to house hunting for eggs. It was nice to see the older kids helping the younger kids.

After the egg hunt and lunch, we went to a friend's cattle farm. The mama cows were having their babies. None were born while we were there but we saw a lot of new little baby calves. The children really enjoyed being on the farm. Ahhh...the life!

Parker's not so sure about this. This is a baby cow, a baby, as small as they come baby cow and yet its still almost as big as he is.

A HUNTING WE WILL GO

Leprechaun Hunt!

We have such great neighbors. Rebecca organized a gold hunt for the children. They had a lot of fun following leprechaun tracks to the pot of gold and then went inside to snack on green treats. The favorite was cupcakes. The least favorite was green veggies dipped in leprechaun boogers (green-died dip). And not to brag BUT my kettle-corn took the grand prize. Yippee!

Bike Riding

Parker just learned how to ride his bike last weekend. He is very excited. So is Sydney. She was very attentive to him as he learned to ride. This video clip is a great example of their relationship and support of one another. A moment a mother cherishes.

We have arrived!!!

WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY CONNECTED TO THE LIVING AND BREATHING WORLD OF HIGH SPEED INTERNET!!!
To some, this may seem like a no-brainer. Who doesn't have high speed? Well...we didn't. But now, through months and months of gentle persuasion and loving, and oft-times not-too-subtle hinting to the husband, we have arrived. I am now connected.
Connected with friends and family, keeping you all updated without ever really having to interact with you at all? Connected without talking, seeing, hearing or feeling you. Nope, none of the 5 senses involved whatsoever. Connected without moving anything but my fingers.

As I begin to learn how to blog, I find myself wondering what "connecting" really is and how being connected has changed through the years. WARNING: I'm going philosophical here.

Before, when we wanted to keep in touch with each other, we would make a phone call, visit someone in their home, meet for a treat, write a letter, develop photos and send them in the mail. Now I can go to the grocery store and buy my groceries without having to talk or interact with anyone. I can scan all my groceries and pay all on my own. I get stamps out of a machine, pump my own gas, punch numbers in the phone to refill a prescription. No connection with another person whatsoever. And blogging is the same way, all by myself, no actual interaction at all. So can we really call blogging- connecting?

Those who haven't seen a picture of my family lately will now have access to more pictures than they would probably like. You can peek in on our doings as often as you want. You will be able to hear first words, see first steps, and watch first birthday cake blow-outs. And you will also hear more of me waxing deep on crazy things like connecting with other people.

Yeah, hard to believe, but as I am sitting here, alone, stationary, in front of the computer (with a 4 month old crying in the background, by the way) without another human within reach, I am connecting with you. So please stop by often. Keep connected. Hey, maybe we can even, I don't know, talk on the phone or meet for a treat sometime!

Spilled Milk Lecture

This is regarding the Spilled Milk post on July 20, 2012
LECTURE

Moral of the story:

There were three different reactions.

1- No Help: stinks to be you but I don’t really know how to help you. I don’t know what to do either so I’ll just keep walking. Besides I’m late and I’m sure someone else will stop to help.

2- Begrudging Help: I’ll help you but seriously, didn’t you see that guy stocking the yogurt yourself? He wasn’t far away. Next time, just be more careful.

3- Genuine Help: It’s just a pen, but I’ll go out of my way to pick it up for her. I’m happy to help, in word and in deed, with a big grin to lift your spirit too.

Also: It’s good to remember that when people are in the middle of a trying situation, they rarely see beyond where they are. I couldn’t see the employee a few yards away. All I could see was the spilling milk. When I see someone in need, I should never assume they see what I see and I should provide help, obvious or not, with a cheerful disposition.
