Apricot Festival 2018

Apricot Ice Cream Festival

I worked for several days ahead of time to try and perfect a Ginger flavored ice cream with chocolate shavings.

Preparatory to the festival, the cousins were able to play together.
Emily, Camille and Brook did Baptisms for the Dead at the temple.

Ellsworths joined us at the Provo Pool with Emily and DaLynn's kids. Here are the stragglers before we left. Look at those clouds in the background!

We also made tie-dye shirts. I'm not sure I have any pictures of the final product though.

The morning of the festival we went on a hike with Dave and his son, Stuart and son-in-law, Ben.

That evening we had a fantastic BBQ. Especially when, after 60 hamburgers had dripped their grease all over the BBQ, a fantastic fire broke out. That was fun! (not)

Pictures of our past years of festival celebrating!

Family reports

Voting for the recipient of the Apricot Award.

And the winner is: Bryn! for going back to school and pursuing her love of art.

Awarding the traveling gift, "the Cane" for turning 50 years old.

Lucky Court! The big 5-0.

And then we got completely rain out.
A serious down pour.

The rain chased us inside where we made pony-bead ice cream cone keychains.
That ended our party a little prematurely because our house is pretty small to try and fit the crowd that is our extended family. But we had a lot of fun and look forward to it every year!

Apricot Festival 2017

Apricot Festival 2017 was a blast!
It bumped it up a few weeks and celebrated with the Fourth of July instead of Pioneer day. This allowed us to go to the Freedom Fest Hot Air Balloon display in Provo. It makes for an early morning. And a little chilly. But that only made the the big fires lighting up the balloons feel even better!

Here are the die-hards that woke early!
(Saratoga Browns, Ellsworths, Carrolls, Lehi Browns.)

Then we headed to the "Y" trail head. Look at all those balloons in the background!

Later in the day we went to "This Is The Place" heritage park.

One of the main objectives was to see the Heber C. Kimball house.
(Grand-dad's Grandpa)

We invited the missionaries to dinner and they shared a nice message and their testimonies before they left.

Presenting the Apricot Award from Audra to Carolyn.
She ran the Boston marathon this year and is just plain awesome!

Apricot Festival 2016

APRICOT FESTIVAL 2016

We started the day with a hike on the White Pine trail up Little Cottonwood Canyon. We thought it was 6-ish miles round trip. But turns out the hike was misrepresented on the maps and websites. It was more like 6 miles one way.

Look at these troopers who kept going, mile after extended mile.

The views were gorgeous.

The reservoir.

Twelve miles was a little much for Bryce. And no wonder. That's a lot of miles for little legs. Around mile 10 he began to complain that the hike was boring. Understandable. And the last mile he just conked out and Ster and I took turns carrying him.

I tried to map the hike but I forgot to start until one or two miles in. Then on the way down, I lost the sync so it looks like we ziplined down. We really wish we had. :)

The lengthy but beautiful and empowering hike got us home just in time to shower and fire up the grill for the barbeque. And then on to the main event - the homemade ice cream and picture.

We also voted on the recipient of the Apricot award, which got a great make-over courtesy of Grady.

Leisel stood in for Audra and accepted the award.

Later, Grandpa present the award to Audra when he visited them.
We admire Audra and her family for moving to small town Idaho and starting a medical practice there. Its a lot of work and pressure and they handle it like pros!

We also had a lot of fun watching the top 5 Carpool Karaoke videos from our friendly family competition. Cannon Won! and he really deserved it.
And thus concludes another winning Apricot Ice Cream Festival!!!
