Mid-year in Logan

We love following Ster around the state for his work midyear conference. This year we were in Logan. One of our favorite parks there is this one. I can't remember the name. It is across the street from my sister, Sarah's old home and next door to the Whittier Community Center. The Whittier Center is a beautiful old building that immediately took me back to my old childhood. The smell, the layout. Exposed, painted pipes in the bathroom. Steep stairs. Real, hardwood floors. The echo. Such a cool place.

Anyway, the park is totally awesome. Parker did parkour all over that place and had a lot of fun. Everyone did.

Another place we had been before was Willow Park Zoo. The last few times we'd been it was pretty neat. They had some bigger wildlife, like elk. This year, there were several empty exhibits and just seemed a lot smaller than we remembered.

The kids enjoyed the wolves, bobcats, and reindeer.

My favorite was this exhibit.

Another favorite wasn't even an exhibit, per se. We found a mother peacock with her babies. Late in the summer for babies and we almost missed them hidden in the grass.

We also visited the America West Heritage Center. I can't say enough good about this place. We made it just in time to milk a cow.

We also took a train ride. Here are the hooligans in the caboose.

America West is a large property. It has a working farm from the 1920's. We walked through the farm and the farm house. Parker said the wash basin looked like a coffin.

Checking out the upstairs bedrooms of the 1920's farmhouse.

Root cellar. Spooky. Lots of spider webs.

Sydney, getting into the era.

Then we panned for gold and traded it in at the gift shop for a piece of candy.

Another area of the property was patterned after the early pioneers, 1800's style. The kids played several pioneer games.

And made ragdolls. Well, two ragdolls and one rag cowboy.

America West charges a small fee and it's worth every penny. We absolutely loved it and would recommend it to anyone, anytime. We look forward to returning.

Our stay in Logan wouldn't be complete with Aggie Ice Cream. Note to self: next time get the Blue Aggie Mint ice cream. Rachel's looked really, really good.

And not to miss -
LOGAN TEMPLE!
