Parker's Birthday

Parker's birthday was July 18. He turned 6. Sterling asked him if it felt any different being 6. Parker said, "It sure does. 'Cuz like, (friend) hit me on the side of my head, and like it didn't even hurt. Its waaaay different being 6!"

So cute!

Anyway, we had his favorite dinner, Lasagne and homemade breadsticks, on his special day. He ate on the special red plate and cup. For his birthday activity we went to Classic Skating in Sandy and played in the JUNGLE. It was really fun. We had a blast and then went to Sonic for a slushcreamie dessert. Perfect!6 things about Parker:
1- His smile and laugh are IRRESISTIBLE! Need I say more?

2-Lately he has been ending his prayers with, "and please bless us all to be super-heroes."

3-Parker really enjoyed Kindergarten and his teacher, Mrs. Kunze. He never had even one day of not wanting to go to school.

4-Reading with Parker is a multi-layered event. It involves an intense exploration of pictures, running commentary on the action and what the words should say and then the sounding out of all words and pause for confirmation by me that what he said is indeed correct.

5-Parker has the record for falling asleep the fastest. He's usually asleep 5 minutes tops after he lays down and sleeps soundly the entire night.

6-Parker's bike is big. He swings one leg over the seat (his knee barely hooks it), pushes off and "mounts" his bike, much like an outlaw would mount his horse on his way out of dodge, as his mother calls after him, "you get back here young man and clean up your room!"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PARKER!
WE LOVE YOU!

Twinkle Twinkle

Rachel knows how to sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," sort of. She has always enjoyed singing her own little songs, but lately I've begun to notice a pattern to her singing and finally figured out that she is actually singing children's songs, not just making them up as she goes. This is all thanks to her nursery music leader. THANKS KATY! I didn't sing with her very much around the house....until NOW!

Sterling also sings "Jesus Said Love Everyone" with her and it is very cute. Not on video yet but coming soon.

Anyway, here she is. You'll notice that I mess up the words but she gets them right on anyway, despite me. And when you hear the oven timer start to beep...that's mine not yours. Kind of distracting. Sorry.

Remember / Forget

Forget:
-the unrelenting knife in my head
-being 'mom' via walkie-talkie when it was just the kids and me
-throwing up

REMEMBER:
-Ster helping me eat a graham cracker at 3:00am, just before I threw it up.
-Priesthood blessings
-My Mom!

Forget:
-rusing to the E.R. - 3 times
-throwing up cranberry juice and bananas, although not as bad as you might think.
-overwhelming, mind-numbing craze to crawl out of my body to escape the pain and nausea

REMEMBER:
-being out cold for the spinal tap
-25 % discount at the E.R. for same-day payment
-my visiting teacher waiting for me on my front porch at 3:00 am and helping me back into my house after my first ER visit
-warm dinners delivered to our table, sometimes 2 dinners a night

Forget:
-waking up in a cold, sterile, empty hospital room on the 3rd floor and wondering where Sterling was and why I was alone
-being scared
-crackly lung noises when I sleep

REMEMBER:
-the image of Diahan and Becca poking around my house, looking for a way in to see if I was ok
-frozen dinners
-thoughtful phone calls and loving family emails
-Ster's snide remarks during the last 1/2 hour of the "Bachelorette"

Forget:
-the Timpanogos ER experience
-Ster raging against corporate medicine
-drug induced dreams of sharks and African medicine men

REMEMBER:
-Sal's grilled tri-tip
-tender kisses and words of comfort

-Breathing in shallow gulps of fresh, warm, July air while Camille paints my fingernails.

I just lost a week of my life

It feels like I did, anyway.
